CERTIFICATE AWARDING CEREMONY – 2026 | Certificate Course in English and the Advanced Certificate Course in Inclusive Service Delivery for Sustainable Peace.

The Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the University of Jaffna, Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL), was successfully held on 2nd April 2026 at the Library Auditorium of the
University of Jaffna, commencing at 10.30 a.m. The event was organized to recognize the achievements of students who successfully completed the Certificate Course in English and the
Advanced Certificate Course in Inclusive Service Delivery for Sustainable Peace.

The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. This was followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. S. Jeevasuthan, the
Programme Coordinator of the Advanced Certificate Course in Inclusive Service Delivery for  Sustainable Peace, who warmly greeted the distinguished guests and participants.

The event was graced by several eminent personalities, including Prof. N. Piratheeparajah, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Prof. J. Robinson, Director of CODL; and Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah, Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Jaffna. In their addresses, they emphasized the importance of inclusive education, lifelong learning, and the role of such programmes in
promoting sustainable peace and language competence. The speakers also expressed confidence in the continued support of the newly appointed Dean for future academic initiatives.

The highlight of the ceremony was the awarding of certificates. A total of 16 students were awarded certificates in recognition of their successful completion of the Certificate Course in English. The recipients were applauded for their dedication, commitment, and academic achievement.

In addition to the certificate distribution, a few participants shared their experiences, expressing gratitude for the knowledge and skills gained through the programme. Their testimonials
reflected the overall success and impact of the course.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. M. Bakeerathan, Programme Coordinator of Certificate Course in English, who expressed sincere appreciation to the guests,
organizers, academic and administrative staff, and students for their contributions in making the event a success.

Overall, the ceremony was a well-organized and memorable occasion that celebrated academic excellence and encouraged continued learning.
