The Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL) of the University of Jaffna successfully conducted the orientation programme for the second batch of the Tamil Palapandithar Diploma Course on 18 April 2026 at 2.00 p.m. in the Library Auditorium, University of Jaffna. On the same occasion and at the same venue, the orientation for the Certificate Course in Sanskrit Language also took place. The programme commenced with the welcome address delivered by Dr. (Mrs.) M. Visakaruban, Course Coordinator of the Tamil Palapandithar Programme. This was followed by an address by Professor Maheshwarakurukkal Balakailasanathasarma, Course Coordinator of the Certificate Course in Sanskrit Language. Speeches were also delivered by Mr. S. Padmanaban, Dean of the Faculty of Hindu Studies; Professor N. Piratheeparajah, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Senior Professor T. Velnampy, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna; and Senior Professor S. Srisatkunarajah, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna. The ceremony formally marked the commencement of the Tamil Palapandithar Diploma Course and reflected the University’s continued commitment to promoting Tamil language and literary studies through open and distance learning.
