OBJECTIVES

The primary objective of the Diploma in Pre-school Education (DPSE) programme is to significantly augment the capabilities of individuals engaged in the realm of pre-school education by imparting advanced knowledge, skills, and attitudes aligned with the standards set forth by SLQF Level 3 and National Early Childhood Development Standards for children. This professional qualification is specifically designed to elevate their proficiency in knowledge acquisition, investigative skills, and other essential competencies pertinent to the diverse facets of pre-school education. The programme aims to empower participants with a solid foundation for academic progression, fostering a pathway for continuous professional development in the field.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

The course accommodates a maximum of 60 students per intake station. The commencement of a new program is contingent upon a minimum enrollment of 30 students per station.

To apply for the course, “Diploma in Preschool Education”, the applicant must fulfill the following basic requirements:

• Be a Pre School teacher and have passed the G.C.E A/L examination, securing credit in the G.C.E O/L examination in Mathematics and Tamil
  OR
• Possessan NVQLevel4/SLQ Level2 qualification equivalent to the G.C.E A/L examination, with credits in the G.C.E O/L examination in Mathematics and Tamil Language .
  OR
• Have passed the G.C.E O/L examination in six subjects, including Mathematics and Tamil Language, in any sitting and possess a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in pre-school.
  OR
• Have completed a Certificate course in Pre School Education from any recognized  university.
  OR
• Hold any other qualification acceptable by the Senate of the University of Jaffna, on the recommendation of the Board of Study of CODL .
  AND
• Age limit is below 50 years on the Closing date o application.
