COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Programmer’s educational objectives are categorized as academic,skill and attitude-oriented.The students will be able to achieve these categories of outcomes, thus, on successful completion of the programme; the students will be able to·

  1. Acquire knowledge and skills in counselling
  2. Develop the relevant competencies consistent with the Sri Lanka National Association of Counsellors (SRILNAC) Standards of Practice for counsellors.
  3. Developappropriateassessmentstrategiesandintervention approaches based on specific client needs.
  4. Develop legally and ethically sound professional counseling   competencies in clinical settings

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Applicants must have the basic minimum requirements for admission to Universities in Sri Lanka and they shall be appearing for the entrance examination and interview with the marks composition of 70 and 30 respectively. The duration of the entrance examination is one hour and the aim is to check the student’s ability, sharpness, knowledge, etc. in the counseling field .The interview consists of three major components to evaluate the potential of the student in experiences, exposure and interest in the counselling or social service field.
